Contest prizes include expenses-paid trip to a Disney resort for winning classroom

Disney’s Planet Challenge will recognize up to four regional finalists, up to 50 state finalists and one grand prize winner. Additionally, every classroom that submits a project will be recognized by Disney for its effort.

NATIONAL GRAND PRIZE WINNER ? 1 classroom in the United States

The winning class will be treated to a three-day trip to either the Walt Disney World? Resort in Orlando, Florida, or the Disneyland? Resort in Anaheim, California, in May 2010. Expenses, including transportation, will be fully paid for the teacher, the students, the school principal and one chaperone for every four students. At the resort, the class will be recognized in a ceremony dedicated to their project. The winning class will also have a chance to meet a Disney Channel star, and the class and its winning project may be featured on the Disney Channel.

In addition to the trip, the winning classroom will receive a $2,500 grant for the teacher and a Disney prize pack for each student, including DVDs, a reusable lunch box, a reusable water bottle and more. The winning teacher will receive an expenses-paid trip to the 2011 National Science Teachers Association Conference and a 1-year membership with NSTA.

REGIONAL FINALISTS ? Up to 4 classrooms (1 from each region)

The nation will be divided into four regions. (For a description of each region, please visit the Disney’s Planet Challenge website.) Regional finalists must meet the evaluation requirements to be awarded the prize for the respective region. If there is not a portfolio within a region that meets the requirements, a regional finalist award will not be granted. Each regional ?nalist classroom will receive:

? $2,500 grant for the teacher

? Customized teacher gift and certificate of recognition

? Disney prize pack for each student, including DVDs, a reusable lunch box, a reusable water bottle and more

? A 1-year membership with NSTA for the teacher

STATE FINALISTS ? Up to 50 classrooms (1 from each state)

State finalists must meet the evaluation requirement to be awarded the prize for the respective state. If there is not a portfolio within a state that meets the requirements, the state finalist award will not be granted. Each state finalist classroom will receive:

? $1,000 grant for the teacher

? Customized teacher gift and certificate of recognition

? Disney prize pack for each student, including DVDs, a reusable lunch box, a reusable water bottle and more

? A 1-year membership with NSTA for the teacher

All classrooms that submit a project will receive:
