This latest version of Corel’s video editing software is a complete HD solution, enabling users to capture, edit, author and output video in all of the leading HD formats including Blu-ray, and it contains a variety of enhancements to enable faster, more efficient rendering and editing. Additional features include faster smart proxy editing, a Painting Creator that allows users to paint and draw directly on video clips, 81 preset film effects, support for importing video from mobile devices, and an enhanced, streamlined uploading capability for posting video on YouTube.

This new LCD projector from Hitachi offers full widescreen capability at a 16:10 aspect ratio, native WXGA (1280x800) resolution and 3,000 lumens of image brightness. This model also provides a variety of connectivity options including HDMI, as well as automatic vertical keystone correction, input source naming, quick start and instant off functions, and closed-captioning. A side-mounted hybrid filter provides an extended life of 2,000 hours, and the CP-WX410 also includes anti-theft features such as a PIN lock, “MyScreen” lock and a transition detector.



Spanish I A

AEC’s Spanish I A is a new software course in the company’s A+nyWhere Learning System. It is the first full semester course component of a comprehensive, completely integrated yearlong course of study for grades 9-12. Spanish I A helps students comprehend and communicate the Spanish language and gain awareness of Spanish-speaking cultures. Sixty-eight lessons, divided into 17 weekly units, focus on vocabulary, grammar, pronunciation, reading and writing. All lessons contain a study guide, practice activities and a mastery test, and each unit includes interactive games such as crossword puzzles, word searches and trivia. The second component, Spanish I B, will be available in early spring 2009.

Lenovo has recently released this education edition of its S10 ultraportable netbook. This model is designed to be an introductory computer for K12 students, and it includes a variety of useful and powerful features in a compact design that weighs less than three pounds. Powered by an Intel Atom processor, the S10e is also available with a choice of 4GB solid-state or 160GB hard disk drive and includes integrated wireless, a webcam and a 10.1-inch display. A unique “Quick Start” feature allows students to quickly check e-mail, access the Internet, conduct videoconferencing, view photos or listen to music without fully booting up the operating system.

A fully hosted, IP-based solution, BlazeCast combines messaging across phone, SMS and e-mail to teachers, students and parents, but its addition of overhead paging is a capability of particular usefulness to educators. Administrators can quickly and easily send messages across all of these media via their desktop computers. Real-time delivery reports ensure that messages are received, and visually configurable paging zones allow administrators to send overhead pages to specific areas of a school or district, or to a single room.

SMART Technologies’ Notebook SE is the student edition of the company’s lesson delivery application. The program is compatible with the teacher edition, as well as all SMART interactive whiteboards and displays, Senteo response systems, Sympodium interactive pen displays, and AirLiner wireless slates. Notebook SE allows students to create, share, organize and store files, schedule and organize homework assignments and due dates, take notes and highlight important information. The program can be used on student desktops, laptops, netbooks, PDAs and tablet PCs.
