What a great day at TCEA in Austin, Texas. I learned so much my first day at my very first large conference and exposition. Today I met with education technology companies to learn about new trends and what's on the horizon for key players in K12. I had great conversations with representatives from DimensionU, Empowering Writers, ePals, SureScore, MindPlay, AMX, HP, Adobe and others. I loved hearing that the district where I taught last year is adopting SureScore to improve college readiness and also now uses MindPlay with struggling readers and English language learners. I got to play DimensionU's math video game and realized that it is much more than just a video game- it really is a tool that gets students excited about learning math and is just so fun to play (even for those of us who aren't gamers).
I also had the pleasure of interviewing two tech coordinators in the Irvine (Texas) Independent School District. Jerram Frosse and Jill Galloway shared their insights on camera to help school administrators effectively incorporate technology. This video will be on our website soon.
Today was great, and I look forward to meeting with more vendors and school administrators tomorrow! More insights from TCEA 2012 to come...
