NEW YORK – (June 26, 2014) – Today Pearson announced the release of PowerSchool 8.0, the latest version of the company’s leading student information system. PowerSchool, used by more than 13 million students in 50 states and 65 countries, plays a central role in a network of integrated systems designed to provide K-12 districts with a cohesive solution to manage all of their mission-critical administrative processes and instructional data.
PowerSchool 8.0 builds on Pearson’s long history of investment in features and technology to ensure that the platform meets industry standards and educators, students and parents continue to have access to an easy, customizable and scalable solution to support learning and teaching. Developed to meet schools’ evolving needs and expectations for information management, PowerSchool 8.0 now includes enhanced customization capabilities. This feature improves the performance, scalability and flexibility of the student information system, making it a powerful, extensible solution that can manage the common and unique administrative processes of any K-12 school or district.
PowerSchool 8.0 also includes a new Document Attachments capability allowing any type of document to be attached to a student record, as well as enhancements to PowerTeacher 2.8, the widely-used gradebook with easy desktop access. Improved Field Level Security in PowerSchool allows educators to customize the management of student information and improved search capabilities in PowerSearch are also included in the new release.
“We are very excited about the release of PowerSchool 8.0, our most secure, customizable, and feature-rich version to date,” said Bryan MacDonald, managing director, Pearson. “The level of new and enhanced capabilities in PowerSchool demonstrates the investment Pearson continues to make in the world’s most popular web-based student information system. PowerSchool 8.0, combined with the optional special education module and improvements to PowerTeacher 2.8, provides K-12 districts with a cost-effective solution that meets the needs of all learners, teachers and parents.”
PowerSchool 8.0 is garnering high praise from educators around the country who have previewed it. Jeremy Davis-Vollrath, PowerSchool administrator at the California School for the Deaf in Fremont, said, “The new advanced search capability on the home screen is beautiful. It allows you to combine searches in multiple ways to quickly and logically select the precise group of students. I'm very excited about showing this to our staff.”
In addition, PowerSchool 8.0 is compatible with the new PowerSchool Special Education, powered by TIENET™, an optional special education module that seamlessly integrates TIENET’s individualized education plan (IEP) tracking and special education case management with the student information system. With single sign-on, data exchange and an integrated user experience, this optional plug-in provides educators with access to a highly scalable solution for tracking and monitoring the entire IEP and case management process from initial referral through classification, placement of students and delivery of services while meeting all state and federal reporting requirements.
PowerSchool 8.0 is available to all current customers as part of the PowerSchool maintenance and support program, and can be downloaded through the Pearson PowerSource program. To learn more about PowerSchool, visit http://www.pearsonschoolsystems.com/products/powerschool/.
