The 2012 Horizon Report, a collaborative research effort between New Media Consortium (NMC), Consortium of School Networking (CoSN) and International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE), discusses technology trends and challenges in K12 education.

According to the report, schools should adopt tablets and mobile applications in one year or less; game-based learning and learning analytics in two to three years and gesture-based computing and internet of things in four to five years.
