American Graduate Day 2014 returns this fall with seven hours of national and local programming, live interviews and performances. Broadcast and streamed live with host Wes Moore on September 27, the multiplatform event is part of the American Graduate: Let’s Make It Happen initiative, helping communities bolster graduation rates through local public media stations.

SST, Inc. launched SecureCampus, a gunfire detection system designed to provide both indoor and outdoor coverage at school campuses. SecureCampus instantly detects gunfire and notifies law enforcement, campus security personnel, on-site staff, and other first responders.

School Specialty, Inc.'s Projects by Design team worked closely with the Shelby City School District to outfit learning spaces in the new Shelby High School with furniture and equipment. Implemented solutions included student tables that can change configurations for different types of class projects to flexible seating.

The Walker County Public School System in Jasper will integrate the Kids Making Healthy Choices app into its iPad-enabled health and physical education curriculum at Bankhead Middle School. The app includes the digital ebook adaptation of the Making Healthy Choices—A Story to Inspire Fit, Weight-Wise Kids book, kid-friendly recipes, online tools and resources and more.

LocknCharge launched two new syncing and charging carts specifically designed for iPad devices. The iQ 30 Cart and EVO 40 Cart are designed for iPad, iPad Air or iPad Mini device collections in school environments. Schools can store, sync, charge, secure and transport as many as 30 devices in the iQ 30 and 40 devices in the larger EVO 40.

The University of California “a-g” review board approved 95 of Fuel Education's online and blended courses. Eighteen of the courses that are approved through May of 2016 are AP courses.

Campus Steps, a new free platform for students, parents and counselors, hosts multiple online and mobile ready apps to allow students to keep tabs of their academics, search colleges, apply for colleges and communicate with their counselor. The company is being incubated by Campus Explorer in partnership with developers from Learning Core.

Copilot Family, a parental control for mobile devices, was launched for iOS and Android devices. Now available in the App Store and Google Play, the app is a tool for parents to remotely guide their children’s experience on smartphones and tablets.

LearnSprout has joined Pearson’s PowerSchool independent software vendor partner program to offer student engagement and performance insights. PowerSchool Student Information System administrators will now be able to identify historical trends in attendance and spot chronically absent students in addition to monitoring with college-readiness tracking tools.

David Douglas School District in Portland has adopted SPARK, made possible through a Kaiser Permanente Thriving Schools grant. The district will be integrating high-intensity and inclusive activities from SPARK’s K-2, 3-6 and Middle School Physical Education Programs as well as teacher training sessions.
