The Sioux Falls School Board on Monday approved 17 construction projects worth more than $50 million for this year with safety in mind.

Front offices will be renovated at 11 of the 17 schools on the list. That work is intended to update security for the areas that keep visitors from getting inside a building unless a staff member lets them in.

Anderson, Terry Redlin, Cleveland, Garfield, Anne Sullivan, Hayward and Hawthorne elementaries. All other schools in the district have already had those updates completed, said Jeff Kreiter, the school district’s operational services director.
