Superintendents and other education leaders from across the country will convene at the Women in School Leadership Forum to be held in Coronado, Calif., on Oct. 17 and 18. This meeting comes at a time when one out of four superintendents throughout the country are women, according to a survey conducted by AASA, The School Superintendents Association.
School leaders will find out why leading the change demands fundamental shifts in classroom instruction. Leaders also will receive action steps to ensure that each staff member contributes to the success of implementation.
The report released Tuesday by the Wisconsin Policy Research Institute, a conservative think tank, also calls on lawmakers to require that the results of statewide performance evaluations for new teachers be linked back to the programs that trained them.

School system leaders who complete National Superintendent Certification are eligible to receive 24 credits—an approximate $25,000 value—toward a doctor of education degree administered by Nova Southeastern University (NSU), announced this week by AASA, The School Superintendents Association.
Harrity seized the opportunity to implement small learning communities, change the school’s culture, and empower teachers so all of the school’s nearly 1,400 students would graduate to thrive in the 21st century.
She believes strongly that classroom teachers model behavior and can help all students learn to recognize and manage their emotions, develop care and concern for others, establish positive relationships, and make responsible decisions.
The conference will showcase ideas and best-practice strategies that are driving student achievement and will unlock ways to boost teacher and leadership effectiveness.
