The Cherokee County (Ga.) school board voted Wednesday night to conduct an ethics hearing on controversial board member Kelly Marlow. The focus will be Marlow’s request that AdvancEd, the parent company of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, reexamine whether the school system deserves full accreditation.

After nearly two hours of joint interviews conducted by the Marblehead School Committee and the Board of Selectmen, William Ackerman was appointed to fill the vacancy on the School Committee. Ackerman, 46, is replacing former Chair EuRim Chun, who submitted her resignation, effective June 30, after ongoing tensions among committee members.

The International Society for Technology in Education today announced its 2013-2014 board officers. At the ISTE 2013 conference and expo in June, Kecia Ray, Ed.D., took the helm of the board as president. Ray is the executive director of learning technologies and library services at Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools.
