The Cumberland County freeholder board passed a $70-million bond ordinance recently, another major step forward in completing its goal of building its proposed new county technical education center.
The bond ordinance passed with a 6-1 vote Wednesday. Freeholder Tom Sheppard, a Republican, was the sole opposing vote.
For Freeholder Deputy Director Doug Long, it was an emotional night. Over the past year-and-a-half, Long has been fronting the project to bring a full-time state-of-the-art technical school to the county.
