After months of negotiations, S.D. city makes final offer to teachers

The Rapid City School Board is imposing its final contract offer to teachers after months of negotiations failed to produce an agreement.

Rapid City Education Association President Sue Podoll says the teachers union decided it wasn’t worth continuing the fight. But she says the imposed contract will mean less take-home money for many teachers.

The contract includes a 3 percent salary increase, a 2 percent one-time bonus and a 9.4 percent increase in teachers’ health insurance premiums.
