After an uncertain fate, construction at the new Sierra Madre Middle School has finally started.
The $27.8 million construction project began this summer after a series of delays over the past three years. The work is expected to last about 20 months.
“It’s something that we’ve been waiting for for a long time,” Principal Garrett Newsom said.
Students and teachers have been operating out of temporary classrooms since most of the previous campus was demolished in 2010.
