Ala. Gov. Bentley supports funding for math, science, and technology

A group of teachers wearing blue protective gloves sat around a table and used tweezers to pick at a clump of undigested feathers and other debris -- pellets from owls.

"You'd think that some kids are going to pass out," Gov. Robert Bentley said as he watched the teachers participating in the hands-on classroom training under the state-funded program known as AMSTI, or the Alabama Math, Science and Technology Initiative.

Bentley visited Oak Mountain Middle School this morning as between 300 and 400 instructors from throughout central Alabama began the two-week training that started Tuesday in conjunction with AMSTI at the University of Montevallo and University of Alabama at Birmingham.
