Alabama school officials mull $3 million career tech expansion

An estimated $3 million expansion of the Limestone County Career Technical Center could be considered by the county school board as early as July 15, Superintendent Dr. Tom Sisk said during Thursday night’s board meeting.

Pending board approval, construction could start during “the summertime or mid-year break, which would cause minimal impact,” Sisk said.

The starting date also hinges on approval from city of Athens, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the Alabama Building Commission, among others. This is due the location of the low-elevation campus, which is within the city limits and nestled in a woody, marshy area on East Sanderfer Road.
