A'Lann Truelock began work last week as superintendent of Hondo Independent School District after beating out more than 20 other applicants vying to succeed Clay Rosenbaum, who left the Medina County district in June.

The Panhandle native will receive a salary of $114,000 under her two-year contract to lead the district, which has 2,200 students enrolled at four campuses.
