Alvord USD (Calif.) picks Sid Salazar as new superintendent

Sid Salazar, assistant superintendent for Quality Neighborhood Schools in San Diego Unified School District, will start work July 29.

Alvord school board President Art Kaspereen said the board unanimously voted Thursday, July 18, to hire Salazar. He will be paid $200,000 a year, including an extra $1,500 over the base amount because he has a doctorate in education.

Kaspereen said Salazar’s background is in curriculum and instruction, “where the need is now” for Alvord.
