Anne Arundel school officials said Monday they got most of the money they wanted under the county executive’s spending plan for next year, which includes money for 62 additional teachers.
County officials said they were funding the Board of Education’s entire budget request, minus $33.8 million the board wanted for employee raises. The school system’s budget is about half of the county’s budget. Under County Executive John R. Leopold’s fiscal 2013 proposal, schools will get $572.5 million.
Leopold unveiled his $1.2 billion budget proposal Monday. The County Council has until the end of May to adopt Leopold’s plan or craft a new one. A series of public hearings begins next month.
