Today ASCD announced the pre-conference session lineup for the 69th ASCD Annual Conference and Exhibit Show, being held in Los Angeles, Calif. The three-, two-, and one-day Pre-Conference Institutes will be held March 12–14, 2014, and offer intensive learning experiences on curriculum, instruction, assessment, and more. Led by world-renowned experts and authors, the 2014 Annual Conference and Exhibit Show Pre-Conference Institutes offer a deep dive on topics of interest to educators now.
These institutes offer participants an immersive learning experience with sessions on
Among the institute instructors are ASCD authors including Robert Marzano, Jonathan Bergmann, Baruti Kafele, Jay McTighe, Harvey Silver, Carol Ann Tomlinson, Doug Fisher, Grant Wiggins, and Allison Zmuda. ASCD’s Pre-Conference Institutes are purchased separately from the Annual Conference experience, and early-bird rates are available through January 15. ASCD is also excited to offer site visits to high-performing schools as part of the Pre-Conference Institutes. The school visits include short trips to Los Angeles schools that have excelled at educating the whole child. These unique, one-day institutes will include a building and facilities tour; observation of classes; question-and-answer sessions; and meetings with teachers, students, and administrators. A special debrief session will follow when attendees return from the visit. The fee for these school site visit institutes includes transportation to the site, continental breakfast, lunch, and a late-afternoon snack. Note that seating for the site visit institutes is very limited; attendees are encouraged to register as soon as possible.
“Pre-Conference Institutes are a great way for attendees to make the most out of their conference experience by adding in-depth workshops on a topic of their choice taught by an ASCD expert who is ready to work with them hand-in-hand,” said Dr. Gene R. Carter, executive director and CEO of ASCD. “We specifically tailor these institutes to the issues educators are concerned with right now and provide them with exactly the support they are seeking to handle whatever challenges they face.”
In addition to these inspiring institutes, ASCD’s 2014 Annual Conference and Exhibit Show (March 15–17, 2014) will feature more than 350 sessions that will enable them to prepare our world's learners to be creative, critically minded, and compassionate citizens. Keynote speakers for the 2014 Annual Conference and Exhibit Show include best-selling author Daniel Pink, president and founder of Quaglia Institute for Student Aspirations Russell Quaglia, and renowned author and speaker Sir Ken Robinson. The official hashtag is #ASCD14.
