In his new role, Smith will lead and direct the association’s technological planning and development. Smith will be ASCD’s first-ever CTO, a position created by the ASCD leadership team to enable the association to expand innovation opportunities with current and emerging technology.

Carter. “The appointment of a chief technology officer only reinforces ASCD’s commitment to enhancing and embracing technology as the underpinning of content delivery for educators.”
Among the many responsibilities of his new role, Smith will identify opportunities for delivering innovative technology solutions. He will direct the planning and implementation of enterprise information technology systems by leveraging strategic partnerships and innovating approaches to technology delivery. Smith will also be tasked with streamlining operations and services to implement robust and scalable processes and technologies to increase productivity.
