Berg took office at the conclusion of ASCD’s 68th Annual Conference and Exhibit Show in Chicago, Ill., on March 18.
“A rapidly changing global environment demands that educators embrace changes and new technologies so that they can better prepare today’s students for college, career, and citizenship,” said Berg. “I look forward to working with my fellow members and ASCD staff to continue to revolutionize the way educators learn, and in turn, how they support the success of each learner in schools across the globe today.”
Prior to serving as superintendent for Deer Park, Berg was a teacher, assistant principal, and principal at both the middle and elementary school levels. Additionally, she has served as an adjunct instructor at Eastern Washington and Washington State universities. Berg has been an ASCD member for 20 years and has held variety of leadership positions, including Washington State ASCD board member and president, Leadership Council member-at-large, Worldwide Influence Study Group member, Legislative Committee member, and ASCD Board member.
