Tom Moore, the assistant superintendent for administration, will succeed Karen List as head of schools when she retires in June, the school board chairman announced on Wednesday.

Moore, 43, has spent his entire career in the district. After being a student teacher at Hall High School in the spring of 1996, Moore was a history teacher at Conard High from 1996 to 2007. He became principal there in 2007 and moved to his current assistant superintendent position in 2010.

Moore will start as superintendent on July 1, 2014, at a base annual salary of $197,000, according to a motion unanimously passed by the board Wednesday.
