Two proposed promotions from within could fill out top Augusta school administrative staff positions, bringing the central office back to full staffing following departures earlier this school year.

The Board of Education meets Wednesday to consider hiring a business manager and a special education director. The nominees for both positions already work for Augusta schools in different positions.

Kathy Casparius, the school system's technology director and a 34-year employee of the city's schools, is the proposed new business manager. Casparius holds master's degrees in business administration and computer technology education. She said in application materials the experiences she has had with students, parents, the Board of Education, teachers and others make her an excellent candidate. The position has been vacant since December, when Karla Miller left for a different job.

Lynne Adams, the assistant special education director, is the nominee to become special education director.
