Longtime West Texas educator Berhl Robertson will be the new superintendent for the Lubbock Independent School District, after a unanimous vote by board members Saturday afternoon during a meeting in the City Bank Room at United Spirit Arena.
Board members had been attending LISD graduations at the arena.
“It really was just a matter of a few hours after we learned of Dr. Garza vacating this position that this board got to work and had direction on filling this position,” said Steve Massengale, LISD board president.
The board passed the motion unanimously to name Robertson sole finalist. It becomes official after a 21-day waiting period.
