Bus Strike Threat Looms Over NYC Schools

A continuing dispute over job protections for New York City school bus drivers means the threat of a strike is still looming, potentially disrupting transportation for about 152,000 students as soon as this week.

The union representing the drivers, Local 1181 of the Amalgamated Transit Union, has not officially said if there is going to be a strike.

A union spokeswoman, Maggie McKeon, said on Sunday that a strike was "possible," even as early as sometime this week. But she said the union has set no specific target date.
