Caddo Schools has a new superintendent, but even this vote wasn’t without fireworks.
Theodis Lamar Goree, 42, will serve as the district’s next leader. Goree currently serves as an area superintendent for Mansfield Independent School District in Texas. He will receive a $200,000 annual salary and a three year contract. He begins work Dec. 1.
Goree became the lone candidate in the search after the board narrowed the field of candidates earlier in the afternoon to Goree, Tim Magner of Shreveport and Terrence Brown. After Brown garnered only a single vote from board member Jasmine Green, the board eliminated him from consideration. It then became locked in a heated 6-6 stalemate between Magner and Goree.
