Carmel Clay Schools picks Illinois superintendent Nicholas Wahl to be its new leader

Carmel Clay School Board has hired suburban Chicago superintendent Nicholas Wahl as its new leader, closing an eight-month search.

Wahl’s experience and focus on students was key to his selection, said board memberTricia Hackett, who led the search team. The board reached out to Wahl, who was initially involved in the search as a paid consultant earlier this year, to ask him to consider the post.

“His skills are just aligned with the qualifications, district vision and district plans,” Hackett said.
