There are many changes coming to Cheltenham School District — new Cheltenham and Wyncote elementary schools, a new school bus transportation system and now a new superintendent.
At a special meeting June 4, the school board appointed Natalie Thomas as the new superintendent. Thomas will be replacing current Superintendent Darlene Davis who has been with the district for six years. Davis announced her retirement last November, and her final day with the district will be June 30.
“I have a son still in high school, and I need to be available at home,” she said in a recent interview. “My job as superintendent involved late nights. I need to focus on things in my family life. I believe [Thomas] is coming into a district in a wonderful position and that is making great progress.”
