The first day of school for some students here meant walking up the steps of a new elementary school - even though they hadn't moved.
Laramie County School District 1 opened the new year with several dozen elementary students being forced out of their neighborhood schools.
That is because there isn’t enough space, said Tracey Kinney, assistant superintendent of instruction.
“As of last Friday, there were 185 kids district-wide who have been forced out of their neighborhood schools,” she said. “That’s in spite of all of the modular (classrooms) and the contingency plans that we’ve made and using every nook and cranny.”
