CITGO Plant Donates Lab Equipment to Atlanta (Ga.) Schools

Tuesday, April 3, 2012

CITGO Petroleum Corporation and its lubricants blending plant in Atlanta donated more than 1,500 pieces of laboratory equipment, including workbenches, beakers, flasks and ovens to the City of Atlanta School System.

The equipment will help students at the Coretta Scott King Young Women's Leadership Academy and Forest Hill Academy advance their science and chemistry education.

"At CITGO we are proud to give back to the community and support our local schools to ensure a promising future for our children. We know how important science education is to helping prepare students for the future - whether that is going on to college or finding a competitive job in today's market," said Brenda Rhoades, plant manager of the CITGO Atlanta lubricants blending facility. "We hope this laboratory equipment sparks the scientific imagination of all the students involved."
