Connecticut school ranking system on temporary hold

Year after year, Ridgefield schools have claimed one of the top spots in the state's education rankings, but this year there are no spots to claim.

Before the 2013-14 school year, Ridgefield and most other Connecticut districts adopted the computer-based Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium (SBAC,) a new testing method implemented in 21 states under the Common Core curriculum.

Last year was the "field test" for the program, replacing the Connecticut Mastery Test (CMT) and Connecticut Academic Performance (CAPT) exams that were previously used in calculating state rankings.
