Connecticut STEM act to aid tech students

New Britain High School students Alek Glogowski, 17, and Shamoon Yaghmor, 16, could be poster boys for the STEM Education Act (H.R.5031) passed Monday in the House of Representatives.

Both students have been learning about design, engineering and construction in weekly ACE (Architecture, Construction and Engineering) sessions hosted by the New Britain Boys Club. There, they learn about educational requirements and career opportunities in STEM-related fields (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics).

U.S. Rep. Elizabeth Esty (D-5th Dist.) introduced the bill with Rep. Lamar Smith (R-TX), chairman of the U.S. House Science, Space, and Technology Committee. Esty is a committee member.
