To explore innovative ways of connecting schools using technology, Telkom launched its connecting schools project on Monday in George.
Telkom delivered more than 120 tablet computers with free internet connectivity to the Mateza and Tyholorha Primary schools. Teachers from each school were all provided with a Motorola Zoom WiFi+3G, 32GB tablet computer.
The project supports the government’s objective to improve the quality of education at foundation level. This project also seeks to help schools connect using technology other than fixed line services as they are in areas that currently have no comprehensive communications.
The Deputy Minister of Education, Enver Surty was present to hand over the tablets to teachers at the school.
