Several teachers in the Cotter (Ark.) Public School District spent a week learning how to better integrate technology in their classrooms, thanks to a $50,000 grant from the Verizon Innovative Learning Schools program.
The purpose of the grant program is to encourage students to excel in science, technology, engineering and math, according to David Russell, vice president of external affairs for Verizon.
“A big chunk of the grant is used to fund training for teachers provided by our partners with the International Society for Technology Education,” Russell said. “The ISTE professionals were here and taught the teachers how to integrate mobile technology in the classroom.”
