Discipline problems soar in Dallas ISD schools

Disciplinary incidents in Dallas ISD that resulted in students being removed from class soared by the thousands last school year, putting an end to years of declines.

Student placements in out-of-school and in-school suspension and alternative education programs increased from 35,451 to 44,672, according to the district. Some students were repeat offenders.

The increase comes after DISD saw a downward trend in overall placements since at least 2007-08, according to Texas Education Agency information.
