Duran talks about Trenton school repairs as school year dawns

The Trenton Public School District is hard at work preparing for the upcoming school year. The district is leveraging technology as a teaching tool and ordering new computers and iPads for teachers and students. Books and supplies seem to have been ordered and delivered, ready for students to use them on Day One.

The district has also partnered with local agencies to offer after-school tutoring and recreational activities to supplement their dialing learning.

Yet, real challenges for the Abbot School district still remain in order to make day-one a smooth first day back to school.

There have been delays in construction and alternative spaces that still need refurbishing. Trenton High School at Chambers Street facility does not have an auditorium and its roof is being repaired while old pipes, mold walls, asbestos and other areas of the 80 year old building are decaying.
