Edgenuity announced the debut of its enhanced Professional Development (PD) services. Now available for the 2013-2014 school year, the new PD offering builds on Edgenuity’s consultative approach toward creating online and blended learning programs tailored to meet the unique academic goals of schools and districts. By empowering educators with the skills, strategies and assessments they need to ensure that online learning solutions are being used effectively, Edgenuity’s PD resources help drive better student outcomes across the country.

“High-quality professional development lays the foundation for successful implementation, which is key to achieving strong academic results from online and blended learning programs,” said Sari Factor, CEO of Edgenuity. “The breadth and flexibility of our curriculum, platform, and new PD services can accommodate the needs of virtually any school or program, helping educators maximize the impact and effectiveness of online learning to increase student achievement.”

Edgenuity’s PD teams are comprised of masters-level educators who average 15 years of teaching experience complemented by extensive technical knowledge. The PD offering consists of two tracks – one at the district/school level and one at the teacher level – and goes beyond product training and implementation to ensure that educators know how to effectively use data to measure and drive student engagement, progress, and achievement.

  • Edgenuity’s District/School Leadership services begin with partnership planning, where needs and objectives are assessed, programs and courses are selected, and implementation begins. Over the course of the school year, student engagement, progress and achievement are monitored through Edgenuity’s data-rich learning management system. An end-of-year review allows administrators to evaluate program goals and determine how the program can be improved for the following school year.
  • Onsite Teacher Workshops begin with three courses: Essential Product Training, Performance Data and Targeted Remediation, and Engaging and Motivating Online Learners. Throughout the school year, teachers progress from preparing for the student learning experience, to understanding how to use system data to monitor student progress and customize instruction, to internalizing how best to engage and motivate online and blended learners. Extension courses specialize in teaching educators how to expand their knowledge base to better serve the needs of special student populations.

Additional courses are available to individuals or small groups that can benefit from on-the-job coaching. Edgenuity’s on-site coaching provides modeling sessions for teachers so that they can create effective online and blended learning environments in their classrooms or computer labs.
