Edmodo, the free and secure K-12 social learning platform, today announced an enhanced version of the popular web-based learning platform and the worldwide release of the latest Edmodo iPad app, complete with several updates and new features, during the third annual EdmodoCon. As the world's largest online conference about education, more than 25,000 teachers and administrators from 170 countries registered to virtually attend. This year’s EdmodoCon includes an address by Facebook COO and Lean In founder Sheryl Sandberg, as well as in-depth coverage of Edmodo’s newest features.
Edmodo’s new version offers a simplified user interface and cross-device consistency, making daily teaching activities easier. The new design makes it easy for teachers to safely use the social networking tool in the classroom, exciting learners daily with dynamic new content across class subjects. Also, with a new customizable toolbar, Edmodo provides simpler access to apps and streamlines collaborative communication with student and teacher groups.
“Teachers and students are, and always will be, our focus, so our engineering team reimagined the Edmodo platform and app with their feedback in mind,” said Nic Borg, Edmodo co-founder and chief product officer, who delivered the keynote at EdmodoCon. “We’re changing the way students are learning around the world, and these newly refined resources will make that learning a little easier this school year.”
Built specifically for mobile to address the way people use their devices, the new iPad app builds off the updates to the web version and makes full classroom management possible. New accounts can now be created from the app; and files, photos, and videos can be directly imported to or exported from other iPad apps, making assignment allocation and submission effortless.
An additional element is that the selection of free, third-party apps are now available to international users. This feature broadens the accessibility of modular, curated apps designed to enrich lesson plans worldwide.
