Former Employee of Ohio District Stole Up to $4.2M, State Auditor Says

Nearly $4.2 million was stolen from the Cuyahoga Heights school district by its former technology director, Joseph Palazzo, according to Ohio Auditor Dave Yost.

Yost called the amount "one of the largest findings for recovery" that the auditor's office has ever had.

"It stuns the conscience," Yost said at a Tuesday press conference at Cuyahoga Heights High School.

The special audit done by his office covered the period from July 1, 2007, through Feb. 22, 2011 -- the day that Palazzo resigned.
