Classroom audio and integrated solutions provider FRONTROW has launched a new contest where schools can try JUNO®, create a lesson capture video, and enter it to win prizes for their classroom. This How do you Juno? Contest gives K-20 educators the unique opportunity to use Juno free until June 1, 2013. Juno, launched by FrontRow in June 2012, is a sophisticated new digital communication platform. Juno combines the convenience of an installation-free audio device, the sound quality and academic benefits of an installedsound system, voice-activated control, and a software feature that promises to finally make lesson capture practical for busy teachers and technologists.
The system comprises a one-touch teacher microphone, an installation-free digital line array speaker tower that’s expandable with up to six additional speakers, desktop software, and up to four simultaneous student microphones.
Contest open to any K-20 Educator
The How do you Juno? Contest is open and available to any K-20 educator in the United States and Canada. "The excitement from schools around Juno has been phenomenal. We really want to give as many people the chance to try Juno and see how valuable a tool it can be in their classroom, and how simple and easy it can be to do lesson capture, " says Jeff Shaw, Product Manager for FrontRow. Lesson capture - which entails recording a lesson and posting it online for students and parents to view later - allows schools to flip their classroom, supports Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) initiatives, and is ideal for students who have missed class, need extra review timed, or for parents to know what their children are studying.
Community can vote for their favorite videos
Because Juno captures both audio in the classroom, video from the computer screen, and an integrated webcam, FrontRow is looking for video submissions that demonstrate how Juno is able to capture a useful, instructional, and easy-to-follow lesson that took place in the classroom, with a short testimonial about how lesson capture fits into the larger pedagogical strategy of the school or district.
A particularly exciting part of the campaign will be the ability of the school and school’s community to be a part of the voting panel. Through May 7, people will be able to watch the videos on FrontRow’s site and rate them. The videos with the highest scores, as rated by viewers, will then be sent to the judging panel for final scoring. Leaders in the education field, the judging panel includes Jon Bergmann, author of Flip Your Classroom: Reach Every Student in Every Class Every Day, and a 25 year science teacher that began flipping his classroom using video lesson capture in 2007, and Greg Green Principal of Clintondale High School who flipped classes at his school which resulted in dramatically lower failure and discipline rates.
Entrants can win a complete Juno System for their class
There will be three grand prize winners and five runner-up prizes of the How do you Juno? Contest - totaling over $17,000 in prizes. The grand prize is a complete FrontRow Juno system and FrontRow desktop software with five microphones (one teacher microphone and four student microphones), and two drop-in chargers. The runner-ups will be awarded a Juno system with the desktop software that includes the teacher microphone, student microphone and drop-in charger. Applicants can request a Juno system to participate in the contest from February 1 through April 15, 2013. All videos must be submitted by May 1, 2013 and the winner will be announced on May 15, 2013. All contest details, video guidelines, request forms, rules and regulations can be found at www.gofrontrow.com/howdoyoujuno.
