Governor Mary Fallin said Oklahoma will not have a law requiring schools to add storm shelters or safe rooms.
During an interview, Gov. Fallin said the state will not be requiring individuals, schools or businesses to add a shelter.
She pointed to an article in the Tulsa World, estimating the cost of constructing a shelter in every public school in Oklahoma at more than $2 billion.
She said that is nearly a third of the state’s entire budget.
