According to a report released Monday, 10 of 19 high schools in the Poughkeepsie Journal readership area had an increase in the percentage of students who were freshmen in 2008 and graduated in four years.
The other nine high schools’ rates declined for the same time period.
Spackenkill High School in the Town of Poughkeepsie had the highest graduation rate of any school in the area with 97.6 percent. Franklin D. Roosevelt High School in the Hyde Park Central School District experienced the biggest hike of 13.6 percent over the previous year.
FDR’s graduation rate was 81.5 percent in 2012. “I hope this is setting a new standard,” said Gillian Rush, president of Roosevelt’s PTA.
