Grants being offered to Ky. schools that raise compulsory education age

The Kentucky Department of Education will be making grants available to school districts to create programs to identify, intervene and prevent students from dropping out of school.

Fifty-three schools in Kentucky have raised the compulsory school age from 16 to 18, which means, by law students are required to be in school until the age of 18.

All the schools that have increased the compulsory school age will receive a grant for $10,000. Similar grants were made in 2013 for the first schools that raised the compulsory school age.
