Tom Leonard, the superintendent of a suburban Chicago school district, has been named the lone finalist to lead the Eanes school district beginning the next school year.
Leonard has been superintendent at the Barrington 220 School District, a district similar to Eanes in size and performance, for seven years. He also spent 20 years as a classroom teacher, coach, math department chair, assistant principal, high school principal and assistant superintendent at several suburban Illinois school districts.
The district has now entered into a 21-day waiting period required by state law between announcing that Leonard is the finalist and entering into a contract with him. If all goes as planned, they’ll vote on his contract April 30, district officials said.
