Indiana awaits word after 5 states get education waiver

Indiana was not one of the five states awarded a waiver extension Thursday from strict federal rules administered by the U.S. Department of Education.

Federal officials appear to still be contemplating whether Indiana will receive another year reprieve from requirements of the No Child Left Behind law or face further scrutiny for a series of ill-implemented reforms the state agreed to enforce.
