Iowa schools are enhancing learning experience for 'digital natives'

The students spent one morning last week clipping up footage they’d shot of a science experiment. One student asked her teacher whether she could use a music track from another application: “Can I import from Garage Band?”

“You totally can,” DeMaris responds. “Who knows how to do that?”

Referring students to their peers instead of answering their questions is part of the Willowwind teaching approach, but it’s particularly apt when using the tablets. DeMaris has training on how to use the iPads and troubleshoot problems, but in most cases, students can help other students.
