Attendees will learn how to use the latest version of the framework to create highly rigorous and engaging curriculum and create or refine units of study using new tools and strategies.
- Creating a Curriculum and Assessment System for 21st Century Learning (January 30, 2014): During this intensive one-day institute, presenter Jay McTighe will teach groups of school leaders, curriculum coordinators, teacher leaders, and school trustees how to apply UbD principles and practices to meet 21st century learning targets. Attendees will explore how to integrate 21st century skills with established standards, apply backward design to curriculum mapping, and assess 21st century skills in conjunction with academic standards.
The UbD framework offers a planning process and structure to guide curriculum, assessment, and instruction. It presents a three-stage backward design process for curriculum planning and includes a template and set of design tools that embody the process.
