The most extensive in the K-12 industry with more than 500 unique online courses and titles*, the K¹²® school district catalog now has more than 20 new or enhanced courses, including updated core subjects, new world language courses, additional electives, and Advanced Placement® (AP®) courses, developed in full alignment with Common Core State Standards, as well as other state and national standards. The catalog now also features more than a dozen new AP exam reviews, provided as companions to the full AP courses.
New courses and content for the 2013–2014 school year include
Ashley Benning, a California-certified teacher and K¹²’s lead for English AP course content, is excited about the new AP Exam Reviews. She commented, "As an AP teacher, I am thrilled that K¹² is offering the new AP Exam Reviews. Students will benefit not only from our rigorous AP courses led by qualified AP teachers, but from the additional resources provided in these Exam Reviews, such as practice questions, timed writing simulations, and outlines of course content. Our AP students are poised for success with the addition of these new self-study courses."
"K¹²’s catalog for school districts provides opportunities for student exploration into course selections," said Kathy Richardson, an advanced Mathematics teacher certified in South Carolina and course content lead for K¹². "By perusing the topics and considering the options, students can then make informed decisions about the path they choose. Many times, students and even parents do not know what options are available for the students. This catalog fills that void."
K¹² provides curricula, technology, and services to school districts for many types of online learning models, including full-time schooling, blended learning, and in-class environments. K¹² also serves districts with specialized online learning programs ranging from homebound education and alternative learning, to world language academies, to STEM-focused schools, and other programs designed to meet the individual needs of students.
Last year, K¹² introduced the PEAK¹² Library, which enables educators to personalize courses to their exact requirements, whether for a single student, the entire district, or any size group in between. For example, a teacher can use the PEAK¹² Library to modify existing courses or build a completely new course by integrating any of the 5,500 lessons and assessments from the A+nyWhere Learning System® by K¹², whether to remediate or enrich student learning.
"Our expanded standards-based curricula are designed to address the needs of all types of learners through a range of online learning programs," said Gregg Levin, Senior Vice President of K¹²’s Institutional Business, which serves school districts. "With a comprehensive catalog, helpful tools such as AP Exam reviews, and a platform that enables course personalization, educators are empowered to focus on delivering effective, targeted instruction that addresses student needs district-wide."
