Gov. Sam Brownback presented south-central school districts with checks Tuesday in Wichita in recognition for increasing participation in the state’s technical education program.
The Career and Technical Education program covers tuition for students taking technical courses and rewards school districts with $1,000 for every student that obtains an industry certification.
More than 8,000 students participate in the program statewide, with many in the Wichita area taking courses at the Wichita Area Technical College. The college hosted Tuesday’s ceremony.
