Kentucky STEAM academy design plans get approval

Plans to construct a STEAM academy for the Mason County School District are moving forward, with approval given Monday for the preliminary architectural plans.

The academy will focus on the areas of science, technology, engineering, agriculture and medicine and will be located at the Carmeuse Complex on Clarks Run Road.

Initial approval for development of the academy was given by Mason County Board of Eduction members in March. Since that time, architect Gary Scott has been working with district administrators and staff to design how the new academy would fit into the existing space, which also serves as the indoor track and field venue.
