Freeholders appointed Rio Grande resident Kerry Higgs to fill the unexpired term of James R. Washington II of West Cape May on the Cape May (N.J.) County Technical School District at the July 23 meeting. His term will expire Oct. 31, 2015. Washington had resigned the seat.
Higgs is a former Wildwood police officer and member of that city’s Board of Education. He told the Herald he wanted to help young people, since they are the future. He views the board as a way to assist students who may want to get a basic technical as well as educational foundation. He looks forward to working with the rest of the board to accomplish that goal. A house inspector, Higgs was raised in Middle Township and and graduated from that district’s schools.
